Chris Carlsson
Hailing from Rochester, NY and brought up with an appreciation for wine, beer and spirits at an early age (his mother caught his father putting scotch and water in is bottle at age six-months) and had his own wine cellar by at fifteen.
Chris works for various liquor stores and some individuals as a “Spiritual Advisor” helping them find new and different spirits - especially those that standout in quality and/or price for the quality.
Chris launched his website in January 2005 after experiencing frustration at the lack of reliable information in both books and magazines in trying to track down information and actual bottles of various alcoholic beverages. Chris understands the struggle faced by independent brands, both financial and regulatory, in getting their products to market, so he created the site with currently over 1900 links to the brands and other relevant websites. He’s always on the hunt for new products coming on to the market, especially the ones made by small producers and not widely covered elsewhere.
Chris has an honest, simple and straightforward approach and a unique price/value rating system that makes his reviews a pleasure to read and a valuable resource.
When Chris is not writing and reviewing beverages for his website he works at the family-owned rare bookshop and in his spare time enjoys skydiving, BASE jumping, antiquing, sci-fi movies and music.
