This premium rum with a distinctive delicate taste is aged in oak barrels for 5 years. At the Chicago Beverage Tasting Institute 2001, after judging on criteria as aroma, taste, character, smoothness and body, the El Dorado 5 years old was awarded the gold medal, and was described as "…Amber, spirity, dried tropical fruit nose. A vibrant entry leads to a evolving palate of caramel, fruit, toasted coconut, and American notes fading into a vanilla tinted glow. Alcohol is present but supportive and provides a balancing bite on the finish. Remarkably developed and complex for a relatively young rum." |
